The year 1890



At the end of the century women’s writing and reading was taken more seriously – in particular also by women themselves, taking place in female editorial boards of periodicals addressing female readership: consequence of, but also reaction against preceding feminism? Titles are flowery at that time: Lelie- en Rozeknoppen (Lily and Rose Buds) and De Hollandsche Lelie (The Dutch Lily).
