Between 2012 and 2015 three research teams – located in Brussels, Budapest and The Hague – will collaborate in the project An International Network Studying the [http://www.huygens.knaw.nl/en/circulation-of-dutch-literature-codl/ Circulation of Dutch Literature] (CODL) funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). They will do this in close cooperation with other researchers and organizations: at present we have 99 project members from 15 different countries. In this paper we will explain the scope and aims of our project. 

We will compare the CODL-approach to the approach taken in WWIH. Both projects promote a transnational approach to the study of literature, both projects look at the circulation of literature and investigate concepts like centre/periphery, canonisation, mediators,...
What is at stake in both projects? How can the centrality of concepts like ‘gender’, ‘author’ and ‘network’ in WWIH be linked to the centrality of concepts like ‘reception’, ‘appropriation’ and ‘translation’ in CODL? 

By looking at both projects, we want to stress the need for collaboration in the emerging paradigm of transnational approaches to national literatures.
