This paper proposes to look at some of the obstacles that persist in academia – in both research and teaching activities and products – and in the way information continues to be organized and accessible in databases and other pertinent resources – obstacles which continue to hamper the visibility of transnational women writers of the past in Women’s literary history.

The paper aims by analysing such obstacles to stimulate the ongoing discussion about what new directions still need to be taken. Case studies on authors from the ''WomenWriters'' database (for ex. Giustiniana Wynne, Isabelle de Charrière) will serve to illustrate where the trouble - and the solution! - lies.
